Manti Pageant 1987/What summer means to me Story #6
There was already tons of people, we parked the car and was standing around the car deciding if we should eat our hoagie sandwiches or not. No one was very hungry so we packed up and found us a spot on the lawn. Me and Brett was playing Blackjack speed 2 and card tricks. Mom had to take the boys to the bathroom again and after a long time Brett went to go look for them. He came back and said he couldn't find them so we went to look for them together, there was a mile long line at the bathrooms so we decided to check the car and sure enough they were there eating a hoagie sandwich. We ate ours than too, By the time we started heading back and got back to our spot on the lawn the pageant had just started. The pageant was about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, the Nephites and the Lamanites.
We had already decided to stay and find a place to sleep down there instead of trying to drive back late at night, we drove around for a long time and finally went to a park. The three boys got beds made up in the car, we put plastic out on the grass with some quilts to go underneath us. Brett slept in a sleeping bag, I had just my quilt, and mom and dad had thin blankets over them. I was trying to sleep but I was shivering so bad and I felt nauseated (the joys of being a girl every month). My mom told me to go sleep in the car, I tried to sleep sitting up on the floor with my head on the seat. It had been a long night and when it was finally morning I was still cold even after sleeping in the car, Tim needed to go to the bathroom first thing and he asked if someone could go with him, but mom just said he would be fine to just go by himself. He got disoriented and went looking in the wrong direction when he was trying to find our car . Mom had to go chase him down and bring him back, Nathan was bawling because he wanted to go home and he was freezing. I was becoming a mad irritated sister as well, Finally after a long slow moving process we finally was all packed up and ready to go. We stopped at a park in Spanish Fork and mom cooked eggs, bacon, hash browns and we ate on the picnic tables. We sat under the crab apple trees and layed under the trees on our quilts and swung on the swings.
This story seems like the message here is my family always disappears when they wander away to go to the bathroom, (ha-ha) but this was always the kind of fun that I always had with my family and the things that we did while I was growing up. Summers to me are sleeping out in the tent in the backyard, eating dinner outside on the picnic table, we always did that with the whole family in the shade of our huge trees mainly because the house was always hot and we didn't have air conditioning except for box fans in the windows. Eating lots of watermelon and corn on the cob, I always associate those with summer. We always had a lot from our own garden besides corn we had peas, zucchini, and tomatoes and various vegetables too. Apricots, cherries, and plums from our own fruit trees, lots and lots of homemade apricot jam, and canned tomatoes, and peaches. I remember our kitchen floor was always sticky from all the canning my mom and dad did even though my mom mopped the floor, it was so sticky it could rip your shoe off of your foot.

Pirates Island
We finally got Brian with silly string
When we were heading to Sandy from Orem, the Gene Simmons ( from KISS) bus passed us Gene Simmons Family Jewels on A&E TV. This morning I had some really nice surprises with a decorated front yard and in the house and a phone call from some cute kids singing me Happy Birthday that made my day.
We drove down to Orem and had lunch at Pirates Island. They had a aarghcade but we didn't play any games because we were going to the Aquarium.
Braxton has that funny teenager humor
Braxton says “Mom I really know something is wrong with you why do you want to take pictures of fake dead people for heavens sake, geez mom this age thing has gotten to you”
I am sitting next to two pirates eating lunch
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the lunch, we had originally planned on going camping but we changed our minds and did some other things instead that were more relaxing. It was a really great day and I loved all the surprises, I wouldn't change a thing!
The Aquarium
Did you know that the Seahorse is the best DAD in the animal kingdom. The male seahorse is the one that is pregnant and gives birth not the female.
Finding Nemo, yep we found him
My stingray with a pirate hat, Braxton with his seahorse our stuffed animals we got in the gift shop I loved the penguins
(I think this piranha is Hungary and wants me for lunch)
The coolest thing I touched the sting rays. At first it was eewww but the more I did it it was fun. They were slimy, a little furry, and you could feel the thickness, they felt fatty.
I couldn't leave out any pictures of these awesome water creatures I had to share them!
